If you really want to impress someone with your underground knowledge of Auckland’s Japanese restaurant scene, take a turn off Ponsonby Road and down Brown Street to this establishment showcasing a sexy, modern take on traditional flavours. Cocoro is definitely a treat but well worth every penny. The marinaded octopus salad is one of the best seafood dishes in this city. The sashimi is melt-in-the-mouth perfection and the tempura has exactly the right amount of crunchy crispiness. The Japanese-farmed bluefin tuna and chives finger roll ($17) is also one of the best examples in the city.

A celebration of food, nature in a way that only the Japanese can do. Amazing treat. Great value for the $85 fixed price. The quality and intelligence of the food make this a very special place to eat,

Amazing food and presentation, friendly staff and intimate atmosphere

This is my favourite date night spot. It's "our place". We go there for special occasions. The food is totally amazing, I adore this place. Words cannot describe how much I love going to Cocoro

This place is awesome, if you’re in the mood for fish - the sushi sashimi course is delicious.

This award winning Japanese restaurant always lives up to it's reputation. Their drinks menu is varied with the best selection of sake in town, and their degustation menu is exceptional value for money and able to be easily adapted to dietary requirements.

Went here for the nine course degustation menu (they also do Japanese tapas as well), and had a near-religious experience. The food was so beautiful, so exquisite in presentation, so complex yet subtle in taste, and everything perfectly matched with wine and sake. A perfect blend of traditional Japanese and modern/French cooking. For anyone who truly appreciates good food, this is heaven.

exquisite quality and tastes to come back for!!
