When Leighton Dunlop started Espressoholic, he had no idea that he was to create a favourite late-night hangout for countless caffeine junkies - or that the cafe was going to help him find true love.
Sure enough, the cafe became an icon and when Majida Tooma bought the business from him about 10 years ago (he stayed on to manage) he found his future wife. Nowadays, they still serve the same fresh, locally sourced food that made Espressoholic an icon.
Be sure to visit Espressoholic for a nice, hot cuppa or indulge in one of their many cabinet treats on display. Psst, they're licensed too!

The almost total lack of any usable WiFi signal in what still feels like Espressoholic’s new location (though it’s been there a while now) should be a massive con but to me it’s a massive pro. The lack of internet removes the temptation to procrastinate (on sites like, oh, this one, ha ha) and works to force you into productivity. I’ve churned out more pure material, more just words in Espressoholic, far more than anywhere else, all probably because I can’t get on Twitter.
Espressoholic is one of the few cafes to stay open later in the night. It also features some of the best shelves of dessert food! I had white chocolate cheese cake. It was very yummy. I would go back there again for this very yummy white chocolate cheese cake. A neat place, no fuss, and an outdoor area you can retreat from Cuba Street to. To finish your very yummy white chocolate cheese cake.
