I am a complete sucker for a hot soak and one of my favouite things about living in the Bay of Plenty is the amazing selection of hot pools it offers. Fernland Spa is a favourite for one reason - atmosphere. It’s located in a bush-filled gully and the large outdoor pool is surrounded by ferns. I’ve never found it too busy or rowdy, making it a great place to relax. There’s also a nice covered area and BBQ so you can enjoy a meal together before or after a dip.

This date is well suited to people with plenty of body confidence (under 30s). It’s romantic to sit under the stars and soak in the natural spring water. The pool is big so there’s still plenty of places to have a private conversation. The "I’m getting too hot" comment also offers an easy escape clause if the date isn’t going too well.

The private pools are what we love best about Fernland. Great place to go on a chilly winter's evening, for a nice private soak and relax after a day's work. You can choose bubbles or still, with a roof or without. It's up to you.

Lots of childhood memories here! Remember the fish pond and the giant goldfish! Such a pretty location and so serene.

The BEST private spas in the Bay

Wonderful setting and year round swimming or soaking.

There’s nothing more exhilarating than jumping into hot pools when it’s chilly or raining. Fernland is a bit of a hidden treasure in the Tauranga area, where most people opt for the Mount Hot Pools (which can be crazy on the weekends) Fernland is a more secluded, back-to-nature option. They also have a great BBQ and picnic area if the weather happens to be fine… if not, then stay in the pool the whole time!

Off Cambridge Road, the open outdoor hot pool isn’t well known or popular yet. With natural fern and bush surrounding the pool its peaceful. There are private spas on site as well if you don’t want to share.

Great place to end a week especially after a hard night out. Thermal pools in the open, not as popular as the Mt Hotpools but is good because theres always space to chill and have a bit of peace and quiet.
