This little cinema offers has plush new seats, and has a small bar area where you can enjoy pre and/or post movie drinks. You can also get snacks from the counter cabinet. This little cinema has a few little quirks to it. They do cheap nights on Monday and Tuesday which is fantastic.

    Enjoyed it, affordable midweek specials, good experience. Would go again.

      This new little cinema offers has plush new seats, and has a small bar area where you can enjoy pre and/or post movie drinks. You can also get snacks from the counter cabinet. This little cinema has a few little quirks to it. I was disappointed by some of their prices, such as their overpriced tubs of Rush Munro's. Their service was also lacking, and allocated seating tickets were found to be confusing if you pre-booked as the tickets weren't printed with the seats. I'd recommend smuggling in some of your own snacks here. They also do cheap nights on monday and tuesday which is fantastic.

        my partner and i have decided that the Monteray is the place for us . Except for a slightly intolerant young lady that didnt appreacite that we are probably a bit deaf.. maybe older satff would be better. the movie set in india was amazing the most beautiful exotc marigold hotel . was awsome . I left wanting to go there . love the theater.

          I have been to a couple of movies at the Monterey in the past month and I just love the place. It has extremely competitive prices and a good selection of movies. The staff are super lovely and friendly. If you love a cinema with a lot of character and history then this is the cinema for you. 

            Great new local theatre is certainly appealing to young and old alike ! They play a wide variety of films, its cosy, they have comfy seats and its handy ! Not only that but you can take in a nice glass of wine if you like !

              Ugly Event Cinema's not your thing? Howick's now has a boutique cinema for grown ups. Same name as before Monterey but new location in the old Howickville. http://www.montereycinemas.co.nz/ Comfy seats, interesting films. Fully licensed so you can have a drink and watch the movies in comfort. Really good promotions as well.

                It is fantastic to see this back in Howick. The atmosphere is cosy and the seats very comfortable. They have fantastic specials - just saw Mirror Mirror this morning for $5.00. My only negative is that they don't do gift vouchers which is such a shame as it was going to be a Mother Day present.

                  My Partner and i have been several times to the Monterey. we jusy love it . It  has a lovley ambiance about it.It has become our picture theater that we love the best . We totally support you . Much thank Rosemary

                    I hired out the large cinema for my husbands 30h birthday. They offered me really great and affordable deals, and made me feel at ease with all my preparations, i will ask them certain request and they would without fail tend to my needs. I love the fact that this cinema is not like your regular cinema. very classy and elegant. The staff were absolutely amazing! smiles and all, and my husband absolutely was blown away. All the people that attended my hubbys birthday absolutely loved the place, the customer service, the smiles of the lovely staff. I love this place and absolutely recomend going here.
