Thank you Motat for being free for the month of June.  We popped in today and ( looked like so did most of Auckland) for the last day of free entry.   Always a fun and educational place. Only complaint was the toilets near the front road were dirty looking and only two of them, also the door nearly whacked everyone as people burst in.. not pleasant.  Also not enough cafes ( the queue was too long and never moved). Apart from that a wonderful day out for all ages.

LOVE MOTAT. We were there as well today and it may be the last time they make it free to all of Auckland at one time. Queues to get in but once inside everyone spreads out. And top marks for putting 4 trams on. Parking was a nightmare though, I dropped the whanau off and then, after driving to point chev and back, ended up parking at the aviation end, right at the road end of the driveway mind, and walking. Cool to catch a tram back to the car at home time though :). We gave up with the cafe queue. The cafe has always been ok but theycould be the next thing to really benefit from management rethink. Overall though, MOTAT is awesome and it's the host of enthusiastic volunteers that makes it work so well. Three cheers.

Each year they have free for ratepayers as we go then ( always winter) so I hope they don't take that away. We were lucky today to get a park by Western Springs but it involved a lot of U-turns and traffic dodging. At least the weather was fab for usall today ( albeit it a bit freezing)..

Hi @AnnaABPM and @iforgotmyusername, we’re glad that you enjoyed your free entry to MOTAT and you both had a wonderful day out with your families. We really appreciate your feedback and will use this in our future planning, particularly for busy days. We often advise our visitors to park at our Meola Rd site as there is plenty of parking there and people always enjoy catching the tram between our two sites, so we definitely encourage you to do this on your next visit with us. Hope to see you again soon.

this is a great little day trip for the family if you have a free saturday, i went here on the weekend and loved the sights, its so educational but without even thinking about it, the trains were a great sight and you could get up and close to everything, a really well spend saturday. afterwards its only a skip and a hop over to western springs aswell for a bit of afternoon tea, a must go and see.

I took my military mad 10 year old son to MOTAT on the weekend and he loved it.  I try to take him to the Military Weekend every year.  He loves the re-enactments and tank rides.  Was sorry that the children's obstacle course was missing this year.  We also had a wander around the main part of MOTAT and enjoyed the "Playing with Light" exhibit.  My son had a good giggle on the earthquake similator.

We love it here! So affordable for families and the kids adore it. Always clean toilets etc and amazing school holiday activities and staff who are passionate about what they do.
