I hadn't been here for years and was thrilled to find it is changing with the times and constantly improving. This is still a great place to visit, especially if you have kids as there are plenty of things to do and see. Not to mention the classic of vehicles dotted around the place. Well worth visiting if you're in Auckland on holiday
Took the kids It's great family fun, love it every time. I really enjoy coming here been coming here since I was a kid and my kids enjoy the same enthusiasm as I do. There is so much to interact with do and you learn something new everytime!!! Would recommend it to anybody young and old!!! Probably the best day out in Auckland
If you love the history of transport in NZ, come to Motat! You learn so much and have a lot of fun doing so as well. It's great family fun for people of all ages :) I really enjoy coming here since you pick something new up every time you visit. It is the perfect way to spend a day out in my opinion really worth coming here time and time again. I also like to bring visitors to NZ here and watch them be amazed.
When our grandchildren were little (under 7 years of age) we got a family pass. It turned out the best and cheapest thing to do. Our grandbabies loved to explore and discover in their own time. Each time they learnt a little bit more and as the year drew to a close the grandbabies become comfortable with the place so there wasn't a frantic rush around and the children were able to take the lead about what they wanted to l see and do. The third Sundays were our favourite as the grandbabies got to get up close and personal with the tanks and steam trains. MOTAT enabled the children to formulate questions which often led us to the library to fins out more. The double decker tram was absolutely amazing. The children loved it and all of the other trams that they rode on. It was great to get the children away from the modern day technology and to actively and interactively explore and learn. The staff were overall helpful there were a couple of times we disagreed with what was being said but at the end of the day they were doing their job.
