Head down Coast rode, past the fire station and drive to the end for parking - from here there are few good walks. You can head out through the forest before returning on the beach.

Great beach

Amazing views! Love the Garnet colony!

It is just the most stunning beach, like all of the wild west coast beaches. I love the fact you can walk along the shore line through sea spray forever.

Great place for a swim or pack dinner and have a picnic on the beach and then drive up to the gannet colony and watch the sunset.

Huge amount of space, beautiful drive and scenery.

This is a fantastic west coast beach....black as coal sand, awesome scenery and great surfing.  My partner and I went for a horse trek with AboutRiding.co.nz on this beach they took us through the forest and we waded along a river, saw seals and had a fantastic time, definitly a great way to capture some some of Aucklands west coast  essence.

This is my favourite beach, we often come here for walks with the kids or do a bit of body surfing. The waves are wild so I stay quite shallow with young kids and we always have a good time. The perfectly calm swimming pool beaches on the east coast are better for really young kids. Another attraction here is the Gannet colony, quite a sight. We sometimes grab some food in Kumeu and park at the beach to eat and watch the sunset.

You will see plenty of gannet birds during summer like in the picture and stunning views from top of the cliff.

New Zealand is known for its stunning West Coast beaches, and Muriwai is one of the finest in the Auckland region. It can get a little wild and windy so stick to the monitored part of the beach if you're swimming, or take to the dunes if you're in a solitary mood.
