Oriental Bay is located just a couple of minutes from downtown Wellington and is home to some of the city's wealthiest residents. Popular with locals and visitors, the man-made beach consists of a stretch of golden sand imported from the South Island. A hub of activity in summer, the beach is safe for swimming and there is a kids playground and plenty of eateries nearby.

Oriental Parade runs along the waterfront and is a favourite with walkers, joggers and cyclists. There are grassy areas suitable for picnics and the Carter Fountain can be seen jutting out water in the centre of the bay.

Oriental parade is one of the most idyllic places in Wellington, the norfolk pines and fairy lights make for a dreamy combination, especially on a balmy summer night. Grab some gelato from Kaffe Eis, and enjoy the beautiful view of Wellington harbour.

If you’re in the middle of the city, this is a place you can go on those hot summer days. Its close to everything, and is a nice place to spend a long time as long as that Wellington wind stays away. With the centrality being key, this man made beach sure wins during peak summer, and is good way to spend twilight as well when the weather allows it!

This parade can be the worst in the rain/cold of winter. However, when the weather dies down, it's an incredibly beautiful walk with a couple of beaches, plenty of nice grassy green spots and a whole lot of vibes. In summertime A+.

When the weather is nice, or even when the weather is not so nice, nothing beats a walk along the waterfront. With the sea air filling your lungs and the blood pumping in your veins, its bound to help clear that head. For those hot sunny hungover days, a quick dip in the ocean has been known to speed up the recovery time!

It could be considered a crime to use a treadmill at the gym, when we have such a spectacular running track right in the heart of the city. Think fresh ocean air, beautiful bay views and uninterrupted sidewalks that stretch for kilometres. While you are at it, if you are feeling extra brave, why not step up your workout that little notch with an ocean swim? (Weather permitting, of course!)
