Roger Hunter's Garden Centre has become a favourite destination for gardening enthusiasts looking for a bargain. Not only is it one of the best-value garden centres in Auckland, but it's also independently owned by local legend Roger, who has a passion for plants and almost 40 years experience in the industry. The garden centre is also serviced by his experienced team, who are on hand to offer helpful advice and tips.

The reason gardeners from all over the city come here is to spend an enjoyable afternoon wandering the walkways and bountiful gardens, pushing the Mangere Bridge garden centre's signature pink wheelbarrows. At Roger Hunter's Garden Centre, it's all about getting the best plants for less. There is everything from vegetable seedlings to shrubs to palms to NZ natives and fruit trees. There's also lots of indoor plants, flower punnets, fertilisers and potting mixes.

Often busy at weekends, it's definitely worth the time it takes to queue and make sure you have a good n

This place is a absolute find. I cant believe how much cheaper this place is than the chain store plant stores.  Its a place worth visiting over the weekend

Fantastic place - a  friend gave me some dollars to spend for my birthday and we had a great time. This is our new fave shopping experience  -Ii won't be going anywhere else from now on!!  :)

I love Roger's. I love the pink wheelbarrows, I love the slightly spooky bungalow hothouse, I love the overgrown gully over the back - especially when it drizzles and it is misty, I love wandering around the plethora of plants in long rows. I really love that the plants are incredibly cheap - Sanseveria for $12, Aspidistras for $12, Staghorns for $12 and there are even some $5 bargains.

I really enjoy coming here large range of plants, flowers ,trees ,  very well priced my partner loves that part of it... There is a large car park and public bathroom.  Only no eftpos thats the only thing i miss

If you love plants - go If you love nature - go If you love adventure - go This is one amazing collection of plants I have ever seen. You could walk around for hours it is just wonderful.  Half Garden centre, half garden show. It will give you ideas and make you ask silly questions - the owner - he is very helpful/knowledge well. Only down side - you can't take people who don't like plants - and you can't really take the kids - it's to big and they will get bored.   Explore and have some fun

Despite reading the raves here, I was still gobsmacked by Roger's garden centre. The place is a maze of really great looking plants and unbelievably cheap prices with such a massive selection, the like of which we had not found at any other garden centre. If you want lots of plants, shrubs or trees and are not looking to buy your mother-in-law that last minute gift, then it's well worth the drive out to Mangere

For anything with roots, Roger rules. The selection of plants and trees here is fantastic, and even if I need only a few bits and pieces I'm partial to taking a drive out south to peruse the overgrown aisles. I do think that some of the smaller plants on sale are too small to survive easily, so I'll usually go for a medium size option that costs a bit more, but everything is still way cheaper than at your regular garden centres. Excellent selection of bromeliads, grasses, palms, magnolias and fruit trees. Seedlings start from $1 per punnet, great way to start a vege garden and start saving money on your grocery bill. Cash or cheque only - no eftpos here.

This place is an experience in its own right.  If are you are landscaping your garden then Roger's can save you an absolute fortune and there is a huge range of plants and trees. Definitely worth checking it out if you have a green thumb and, if you don't, Roger has advice on tap.

Rogers (and Roger for that matter) is legendary. The plants are healthy and very reasonably priced and the selection is amazing. Bear in mind this place is big and can get a bit muddy in winter - bring your gummies! Roger himself is quite flamboyant which shows in his choice of the pink wheelbarrows you use for carting your purchases around! He always has lots of helpers who will give you a hand with the lifting and carrying if you need it. If you need a hand with selecting what plants will suit your plot just ask Roger - he has an amazing knowlege which he is more than happy to share. I've personally planted two gardens entirely with purchases from Rogers - and I'm working on my third! The prices here are much more reasonable than what you get in the gardening chains so if you need to get a few plants then it's definitely worth the trip. One word of warning - unless things have changed Roger only takes cash or cheque so it's safest to make sure your wallet is full before you visit

Absolutely brilliant! We too our on our second garden using all of Rogers plants. They are so much cheaper than the main brands eg, one plant we looked at was $20 at Rogers and $60 elsewhere, it was a big saving given we brought 15 of them! I know lots of landscape gardeners use this place too - I have had to fight them off for plants hahaha! And yes, I was there last weekend and it is still cash or cheque.

Roger's is the best garden centre ever. I bet you can find any plant you want there, massive range, very reasonable pricing, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Went for one magnolia and came away with three barrow loads!!
