OMG - possibly the best Thai restaurant in Auckland (South Auckland, to be exact) - and believe you me - I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants in Auckland. I never thought I'd discover this gem hidden in a place like Otahuhu. Lovely outdoor dining experience, authentic looking decor and the food was absolutely beautiful. We went for the $25 lunch buffet (per person) and was greatly surprised at the (more than enough) quantity and quality of the food presented - thai yellow curry, fried spicy egg noodles, stir-friend ginger beef, lovely appetisers - spring rolls and some kind of friend tofu, bok choy with oyster mushroom sauce. Absolutely lovely - great dining experience. Will definitely return!
You can be forgiven for thinking your GPS device has made a mistake when trying to find this place. It's very unassuming from the street - I felt like I was visiting someone's home but then you follow your way through the entrance around the back and realise the appeal when you step into the 'secret garden' - it isn't the best Thai food I've had in Auckland, but it's not bad either. Great for a novelty night out (especially in Otahuhu), even just to say you've been there.
For a fabulous summer outing, the authentic Thai garden atmostphere of this tucked away Otahuhu restaurant experience, is one of the best ever! So much atmosphere! So much effort has been put into creating surroundings that make you feel like you are having an overseas experience, without the cost of the airfare and accomodation to travel abroad. All your senses are enlivened, including the smell of incense as you walk in and beautiful Thai ornaments and craft. The seating options are amazingly creative and special, whether we are a group of 10 or just the two of us. Love, love, love this place. For that special occasion with friends or romantic experience with a special someone, this is the place to go this February to enjoy summer good times.
