Long standing and Iconic for a friday afternoon long Lunch

I love going to SPQR, it has the most amazing wine list by the glass and we always drink too much, watch people, and laugh like we were on a first date. Obviously, the food is also top notch.

Still the best espresso martini in town.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered something Id never ordered before and now that dish will apart of my comfort zone forever.  The ravioli was unbelievable

It's a bit of a ritual, it's a ritual for many SPQR lovers. Espresso Martinis here are still the best in Auckland. I have tried and tried to find an equal... Still no love!

I'm not usually a martini man but sometimes SPQR does funny things to people. The espresso martini is definitely a must have. Thanks Nay Nay!

Of all the pizzas I've had in Auckland (and I've had a lot) SPQR have some of the yummiest.  I can't go past the mushroom and blue cheese. Seriously, try it next time!

Seriously, look at this thing…

Rich, but fluffy chocolate cake with black cherries, covered in lashings of dark chocolate sauce and creamy vanilla bean ice cream on the side. Then you dig your spoon into your SPQR Chocolate and Sour Cherry Pudding and the soft fondant centre oozes out of it. This dessert is incredible, in fact, it’s positively sexual! Very filling and rather rich, but it truly does taste incredible. This is def my favourite place for dessert and the great atmosphere keeps me coming back again and again. It’s fabulous!

I went here for a birthday party, there were 25 of us!! So we filled a lot of the place up!! The staff did well though considering, all the mains came out roughly together, a few a little behind, however we ordered quite late and our dinner came out at 10pm by which time it was very packed with people at the bar. It was really loud as the music was booming and due to the number of people.  It actually seemed too crowded for the space.  For a bar its passable but when your dining at a nice restaurant its not the best atmosphere. The positives are that the food is good.  Although one waiter got my drink wrong I let that slide as it was so loud - the service was good :) It was a little confusing with who is actually wait staff too as they are all dressed ready for town!! I would come back - however i think much earlier and definitely book a table.
