Starfish in Thorndon was an old local of mine, it has some pretty tasty offerings and if you pay the right amount you will be rewarded with your input. They take care of all the usual things correctly; you won’t be disappointed that’s for sure. If you’re in that end of town it’s a pretty good spot to grab food from and take the short walk to the bottom of the Wellington Botanical Gardens and have a good Wellington summertime experience.

Pokey but full of character. Feels like the kind of place that the framing story of a Polish family epic film would be set.

I love skinny chips - ones that are more like fries - and Starfish’s are ideal for my tastes. One of Wellington’s best fish n chip shops, hands down.

This place was frying up a great packet of fish and chips when I was a seventeen year old supermarket worker. Close to a decade and a half later, they still got it like that. Fresh, crisp and crunchy seafood and potatoes. This place is the jump-off.

Authentic fish and chips just the way you like it!
