Ariving at 9.20 on a Sunday morning, this place was already really busy, this didn't effect the level of service. After receiving a warm welcome and an option of seats from the maitra de, we took our seats and our waitress was there to offer us drinks within 2 minutes.The coffees came quickly and were nice and strong. Our breakfast was with us less than 20 minutes after getting through the door and was deliciuos, this is as close to fine dining a breakfast gets... my marmalade on toast, freshly chopped oranges on thick slabs of raisin croisant toast with a golden syrup butter was imaginative and tasty, as was my wife's poached egg and rosti. Although already quite full up we couldn't resist having a small cake each, from the fabulous display table in the middle of the cafe. These were again delicious. With impecble service, great food and an amazing view out over the water, I will be recommending this to many and taking family next time they are in town!

I loved this cafe! You can't help but be impressed by their exemplary service, cool decor and imaginative, well-presented food. It really was the perfect combination of everything. Our total bill may have been a bit more expensive than your average cafe - but there isn't anything average about the Takapuna Beach Cafe - far from it. Well worth it:)

We came to the Takapuna Beach cafe and store more for a late lunch/early dinner type meal and were pleased to find the place still humming. We were seated outside in the shade and in deference to the fading sun and the wee kiddies, the waiter went and found us warm blankets - a nice touch. We ordered two 'sweets' from the counter selection to keep the kids interesed and two meals from the menu to share between us. The pecan pie and macaroon were eaten so fast i didn't even get a look-in - and they were delcious apparently! And although the husbands fish and chips were delicious he was disappointed with the portion size - it was a good thing that we had ordered the side of fries because the wee lads gobbled them up really fast! My Snapper hash was presented beautifully - but tasted really average and sadly my coffee - which I was really looking forward to was burnt. The husbands long black was not however and he pronounced it perfect. In terms of what it cost we felt the meals could have been larger in my husbands case and tastier in mine - but overall it was prefectly pleasant and we finished the experience with a walk along the beach.

A stylish café with restaurant service overlooking the sparkling Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Island. Takapuna Beach Cafe serves by far the best ice cream (Gelato) in Auckland. Although I have never tried it, the beach picnic baskets are a great idea, too. Get a double scoop of delicious ice cream and/or sorbet and stroll along Takapuna beach. A great place to take overseas visitors and locals alike.
