As a Ponsonby local with plenty of great cafes at my doorstep, I had breakfast both Saturday and Sunday this weekend at Takapuna Beach Cafe. I make a point to go over at least once a month. The staff are incredible, we asked the waitress how many waiters were on that day, a staggering 19, no wonder service was quick and efficient. Yes we had to wait for a table , about 20 mins, but they give you a buzzer and we sat on the beach until then. Once seated it took max of 5 mins for drinks to arrive and 5-10 mins later we were eating The food is exceptional, everytime it’s exceptional!! Yes it’s not the cheapest but it’s worth every extra penny!! Loved the fish burgers yesterday , not to heavy and perfect size.

    Metro's Supreme Café for 2012 (and 2011 and 2008), Takapuna Beach Café really does live up to the hype. This Truffle & Forest Mushroom Duxelle with Pain de Mie, Poached Egg and Parmagiano ($18.5) will knock out your tastebuds with its perfectly balanced flavours. Melt in your mouth delicious!

            Cannot buy a glass of wine and it closes at 4pm usually so it is great but a bit dissapointed really . Great location so hard to get a seat . Photograph shows one of many campervans that pass by the cafe daily . parking and sleeping nz use this cafe when they stay at the Takapuna Camping ground

                  Not set out for kids really a formal set up Very nice formal retaurant style dinning on the Takapuna Beach Reserve. Formal service full menu , bookings make it difficult to just arrive .Staff prefer people to get take aways so as to keep tables for formal groups wanting full restaurant service and wnting to have full meal service . Very hard to think of it as a  beach cafe   , obviously not for the family group just off the beach . 

                    Great beach cafe- came for breakfast and it was already bustling with so many people. Very unique, classy breakfast menu (a bit pricey, but worth it I think),  and happy with whatever I had ordered last time I went. Indoor/outdoor seating available. Good staf and service. Heard they have gelato/ ice-cream, must try!
