Such a great place to kick-off your working week! I headed down to Tepid Baths for the first time this morning and was seriously impressed. The facilities were clean, staff were friendly and the water was the perfect temp for 7am. Love that it only costs $7 to swim for as long as you want. Will definitely be adding a morning swim into the diary going forward. Loads of parking and close to work!
Even before the sun comes up, there’s a hive of activity at this historically significant Auckland Council establishment. First opened in 1914 and redeveloped in 2012, the seven-lane pool is my refuge away from the city’s notorious traffic congestion and a place I can reset before work. Swimming might count as exercise, but as you glide through the water and look up at the glass roof - while the rays of sun peek through the skyscraper skyline - it’s also a soulful experience. Plus the staff and other swimmers are friendly and the price is cheap - it’s just $6.70 and you can swim for as long as your fitness allows.
Auckland's Tepid Baths and Fitness Centre have recently undergone an overhaul, and turns out they scrub up mighty well! If you're looking for a gym but don't want anything to big or flashy, the Baths are the perfect alternative. Hit the pool or gym depending on your mood, then wind down with a spell in their sauna or steam room. Located in downtown Auckland, it's a great workout option if you work/live/play in town.
The Tepid Baths have had a face lift, and unlike Hollywood beauties, everything is still in the right place. The recent renovations have enhanced this once tired gem in Auckland's fitness crown beautifully. The pool area although different, makes the best of natural light but the single changing cubicles are still there, although in a different spot. It has not forgotten its history, and if you're not lapping it up in the water you can entertain yourself with historical gems lining some of the walls. I learnt to swim at the Teps many years ago, oops ... last century. And coming back for my son's swimming lessons really is a treat. There are classes or you have the opportunity to have one-on-one lessons, which proved to be the best option for my youngest son. Staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful. If you're in town, and you're feeling a roll or two in all the wrong places, get yourself organised and get down to the Teps.
