My brother use to play in a band on Wednesday nights there. I went along to eat and listen to great music and watch awesome Brazilian dancers. Great atmosphere, food and music! A+

Superb photo :)

LOVE this place - had my hen's do here a few years ago - the cocktails were perfect, the staff were the friendliest and most helpful people ever, and the food was absolutely sensational!! We just keep going back and every time we have a great night.  Fabulous atmosphere too!!

Having visited Mexican Cafe a number of times for gatherings, birthdays or meetings you start to notice all the little things you didn't before. The Mexican Cafe has a certain vibe to it, it's worn and authentic in its own way. I've never been to Mexico but it gives me the feeling like a wooden built building in the middle of nacho land. The meals are large and suggest ensuring your truly are hungry before taking on a special beef nacho's plate. The staff are friendly and service does not take long. In the after noon seats fill quick and the place comes to life as live music and dancing begins. The pricing is very fair, if your on a budget for a meal under $15, this place will give you a full belly and leave you with a grin. Many people may dislike the toilets as they are not new, the chairs and tables are all been around for many years, again worn is the key word here is worn. This is what people go to Mexican Cafe for, over all not a regular for me but that doesn't stop the place from being over booked week on week.

What a great review :)

This place is awesome, and I recommend taking a group for happy hour in summer - every day between 5 and 7pm. Go for the frozen fruit margaritas or the potent Caprihina, along with a $7 taco. Amazing value, delicious and a super fun vibe.

Great review :)

Just returned from mex caf on a 40th party, we all had mains and they were pretty tasty but above all The atmosphere here is just awesome! It absolutely outshone the food, but that’s what it’s all about! Its a very old place, hardly touched-up but every dent in the floorstep adds character, (and im sure tell a story). In comparison To a top notch restaurant; mex caf carry the epic atmosphere like no other! Come along, grab a group, order a tequila and dance your Latin moves to the live band!

Superb review :)

I love this place. It was one of the first places I came to when I came to Auckland. Being an American, I miss good Mexican food. This place is the closest I can get and with the best prices.

Good review :)

I've been in Auckland for a couple of years and this is my go-to place to meet up with friends. The space is very conducive to conversation, the food is good (and fair priced), the drinks are tasty and the employees are always cheerful. I can honestly say that I haven't found a better Mexican restaurant in Auckland.

Famous for being able to tame even the wildest of crowds for decades now, the Mexican Café (or The Mex as it’s affectionately known), is the perfect place to dine if you’re in a big group ready for a big night out. The food is standard South of the Border fare, but the cocktails are to die for.

Nice review :)

Mexican Cafe always has a great buzz in the air; particularly as everyone enjoys jugs of the delicious margaritas! To be honest though, the food is very average. With new Mexican eateries opening across the city, it’s time they picked up their game.
