There are approximately 140 seats and we are able to serve over 300 people on any given night. We can cater for large groups and have a function room that can seat up to 45 people plus a range of set menus to cater for all tastes and budgets.

Been here a few times- lunch & dinner. Always quite bustling. Obviously quite popular, I can see! Great range of food- so many more I have to try. Have to say, I really love the decor here. It's so colourful and cheery. Staff are good. Definitely try book a table for dinner- that's when it becomes full. Good margaritas, great burritoes and chimichangas!

This is an Auckland institution, been around for ages and still provides a top notch meal. Good REAL Mexican food, and awesome prices. Also if you're lucky enough to be there when the pitches of margaritas or Sangria's are on, it's a BARGAIN! Everyone should eat here at least once, it's right in the middle of town as well, so easy to get to by public transport (as you'll enjoy the drinks no doubt).

When my partner and I moved here from Southern California, we were a bit worried that there wouldn't be any good mexican available. That's not the case, and this is one of the restaurants that demonstrates it. I thoroughly enjoyed my vegetarian burrito and our margaritas. One thing about mexican restaurants in NZ though - they need to diversify beyond iceberg lettuce and tasty cheese. It's the one thing that's holding them back from full authenticity.

Once again a fantastic night with yummy Mexican food, fantastic strawberry margaritas served in jugs and the sweetest smiling staff this side of the Bombays.. well done Mexican Cafe on giving us a wonderful night out to celebrate in your vibrant happy place with the tastiest burritos and margaritas ever. I love the fact you can't book. front up & sit at the bar while you wait. we had a 15 minute wait and got a wonderful table outside on the balcony where I had never been before. The meal was great and very good value. The staff were very good and always happy and smiling which I just love. Can't fault this place on any count!!!!

YES - good food and great value for money ! Not the most authentic Mexican food but is ok for what it was ! Nice relaxed setting, great place to come and meet friends for lunch or dinner after work !

I love the Mexican Cafe. The decor and ambiance is really like stepping into Mexico itself, the music and little touches all around the restaurant really add to the whole dining experience. The food is really tasty and fresh, I couldn't ask for yummier Mexican food! The cocktail selection is great, especially if you like tequila, but unfortunately I don't so I just stick to the mojitos. If you are able to come at happy hour which is between 5pm and 7pm you can get some amazing specials on tequila cocktails and bar snacks which is such a great option for students and those on a budget. The service is friendly and attentive. But you need to get in early as this place can fill up fast and booking is only available if you have 8 or more people.
