Cheeky bartenders, a proper pint of Guinness, an amazing outdoor area and plenty of screens make this the perfect place for soaking up any epic sporting event. Come down, spin a yarn and get into the big game atmosphere at Patriot Devonport!

The Patriot is a great local bar and kitchen located right in the heart of Devonport on a nice day this place is always buzzing and is the perfect place to meet up for a drink and a bite to eat before the nights festivities kick off.

Awesome atmosphere with an impressive selection of beers. Awesome staff and surroundings.

Family friendly and relaxed garden bar. Surcharge on public holiday is a bummer though.

Awesome relaxing Friday night venue with mates.

I tried this place out when we were in Devonport as it was in the entertainment book and when we are somewhere different we use the entertainment book for ideas in where to go and you also get a discounted meal which is a bonus. The place was easy to find and the staff were friendly, the food was average but fine and the service was good. All in all it was a nice new place to try for lunch on a sunny day.

It's a good thing I don't live in Devonport because I would probably spend several evenings a week here, eating and drinking. Actually, that wouldn't be a bad thing at all. There are worse fates. The Patriot, in the heart of Devonport, is that rare pub, one with lots of character that just seems built in. Never forced. Never artificial. Small framed aphorisms adorn its walls. Its modest entrance masks a large interior, with multiple levels, including a walled outdoor area and an upstairs with a pool table. The food is much better than average, with gigantic burgers (not those pansy patties you find so frequently in Auckland), a usually good selection of daily fish specials, and solid fish & chips. The main room of this once and former bank even sports a fake fireplace that is coveted on cool nights.

We took the dogs for a walk along the beachfront before heading to the Patriot for lunch.  They were quite busy due to the public holiday, but nevertheless we found an outdoor table big enough for the 4 of us and our 2 dogs.   There was a 30 minute wait on food but this was outlined to us before placing our order.  We had several pints of Guinness, a few ciders and 2 soda lime and bitters (plus a bucket of water for the dogs) and 3x fish and chips, a side of mushy peas and eggs benedict with smoked salmon.  There was a surcharge due to the public holiday, but there were signs on show all over the bar and on the tables to make everyone aware.  Our total bill including surcharge was $200.  The meals averaged around $22 each. Great atmosphere, huge outdoor areas and friendly staff.  We'll definitely be back to visit again soon.

and a great atmosphere for watching the league!!

Awesome seats upstairs
