Greatf food

I am lucky to be local to this wonderful restaurant & bar. Both the bar food and the restaurant food is top notch and I especially love the scallop entree. The ribs here are the best you will find for miles, and the serving the biggest! The setting itself is lovely and the service has always been great too. If you haven't visited, it's a must!

What could be better than sitting by the water, basking in the sun and supping on a craft brew to celebrate Christmas Day? And when it comes to the Christmas lunch on offer, The Riverhead's Landing Restaurant has an excellent multiple-course menu featuring festive traditional Christmas lunch delights such as roasted lamb rump, orange and cranberry-stuffed turkey and pan-fried salmon. You can choose any two courses for $45 or three courses for $55. Plus no decent Christmas Day celebration is worth its salt without a belly-filling dessert and that's where The Riverhead come into their own. For the big day, they are serving up a delicious homemade chocolate brownie and mini pavlovas. Or for the traditionalists, a steamed Christmas pud with custard and cream.

Hi Kylie, Thanks for writing something on our page about Christmas. Regrettably the info you have is last years and doesn't reflect what we are offering this year. It is a new and improved menu, but it has already sold out and we have people on the waiting list!

Thanks for letting me know Paula.

Great times and memories here. Awesome yummy food.

It’s never a long time between drinks for me when it comes to my love affair with this gem of a tavern. The last time I was here was for a family birthday and we drove by car. But because it is situated right on the water’s edge and in order to get the full experience of a great Kiwi day out, you need to jump on a boat and head up the inlet to the moorings outside The Riverhead. As New Zealand’s oldest riverside tavern, it’s steeped in history, but when it comes to the menu and craft brews, this place is as modern as it gets. A gastro-pub on steroids, each dish bursts with fresh, seasonal flavours and local produce and meat cuts are at the forefront. Plus, as a regular, I love the fact that new dishes are added often. Their dessert is also an absolute must and I recommend that everyone at the table orders something different so you can enjoy a real taste test. I’m not sure anywhere else in Auckland does such a lip-smackingly-good, sweet finish to end what always is the perfect pub meal. Plus the cold tap beer slides down so nicely on a hot summer’s day that it’s worth taking a sober skipper so you can have a rollicking good country day out. If you’re an Aucklander and haven’t experienced The Riverhead yet then you haven’t lived. It really is that good.

Great friendly atmosphere and lovely setting

Such a good atmosphere with lovely people. Not too badly priced either. Makes a good intimate place for a date

Take the river cruise from Auckland City, check for times as it’s tidal - a great carefree day out.
