Waihi Beach is located in the small Bay of Plenty coastal town that goes by the same name. The 9 km long white sandy beach is one of the country's safest surf beaches and is popular with locals and visitors alike.

There are many accommodation options nearby including motels, lodges, B&Bs and camping grounds.

A great spot to enjoy sun bathing, swimming, boogie boarding, kayaking, kite boarding or fishing, head to the Orokawa Scenic Reserve at the northern end of the beach which has numerous picturesque walking tracks past native bush and an abundance of wildlife.

Gentle waves and uncrowded sandy shores make this beach the place to be … go stand up paddleboarding, surfing, swimming, or take your boat out for some fishing adventures. There’s a playground for the kids, and the little township is filled with friendly cafes and cute shops just a stroll away from the beach! Tip: Visit the Secret Garden Cafe after a day at the beach for a delicious hot chocolate and peaceful atmosphere.

This is a great surf beach with a funky beach town to match. It also features a bush walk over the hill to neigbouring Okawa Bay - a stunning and fairly remote little beach with crystal blue water. The beach is slightly more rugged and untouched than the Mount and it’s a great place for an evening stroll on the sand. You can rent cool retro baches to stay in for a night or two and spend a lot of time looking around the shops or sipping coffee at the cafes.

I love how long and sweeping this beach feels. Gorgeous white forever sand stretching 9km. A safe beach for surfing and boogie boarding and perfect for a family day out. Tip: Take some blankets, maybe an umbrella or tent for shade and pack up a picnic. Enjoy the sunshine!

Everything!

The gateway to The Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty, I love this place. The walks here are amazing. Known as the safest surf beach in NZ and home of the famous ‘Waihi Beach Hotel’
