The Wellington Regional Aquatic Center has recently had it's spa and sauna facilities completely refurbished, with highly impressive results. The new saunas are beautiful, and the spas are lovely also. A great place to spend the day relaxing with, or without the family.

Kilbirnie pool is the best place to get wet in Welly when you want an early morning swim. Can get crowded at 6am when it opens with the school kid swim squads but clears by 7am.

So, so, so baby friendly. There are nipper swimming lessons in the hydrotherapy pool (nice and toasty warm), with great swimming teachers that know what they’re doing. Good baby changing facilities, good spaces for babies and parents to hang out, and a family friendly cafe for after your swim!

The Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre is a fantastic facility. They've got all the bangs and whistles, plus a daytime swim there can be super relaxing. If you have children to entertain, they have wonderful kiddie pool facilities as well.

Swimming is fun no matter what age you are. The Wellington Aquatic centre is great for a family day out whether you want to splash around in the kids pool with your kids or, if they’re a bit older go sit in a private spa while they play.

I'll admit, most of the times I've ventured out to the aquatic centre in Kilbirnie have been for school programmes; more than a few primary schools in the greater Wellington area bring their charges to Kilbirnie for their excellent swim lessons and an incredibly fun-looking spray pool-- ah, to be 5 again. But look to the right on your way to the programmes pool and you'll see the most divine 50-metre heated indoor pool this side of Sydney. With so many lanes, you'll never find yourself caught in someone else's wake again. And with treats like the cafe, three private spa pools, and private saunas waiting at the end of your exercise routine, your bland days of swimming a few cool down laps and leaving in a haze of chlorine will be a thing of the past.
