Zus & Zo know how to make good coffee. I recently stopped in for a catch up with a couple of friends for lunch and of course coffee. Always a friendly atmosphere, I instantly felt welcome and at home, with the smell of fresh coffee and food from the kitchen. I had the salmon rosti which was brimming with flavour and included asparagus so I was one happy customer. It took a lot of will-power to resist the tempting sweet treats which are on display in the middle counter.
The whole premise of Zus & Zo is based on open sandwiches - choose from freerange bacon, rocket and tomato with guacamole, panfried haloumi with roast beetroot salad and almond gazpacho and egg salad with kimchi, rocket, mayonnaise, gochujang and sesame seeds - and that is just a few from the ample menu.
I’m a big fan of BLTs and Zus and Zo nail their version of the sandwich. It arrived as an open sandwich, crispy, streaky bacon sat on a bed of mixed fresh leaves and cherry tomatoes. The mixed grained bread was generously spread with avacado. Delicious. The coffee is always great and the service friendly.
At $16 it was a little pricey, but the flavour combo sounded so good I had to go there... cauliflower, coconut and ginger soup, with pecorino on toast on the side. IT WAS DELICIOUS. A special, but not the only good thing on offer at Zus & Zo - whatever you opt for you'll likely walk away feeling mucho satisfied.
