On a wet and horrible day i find there is nothing better than escaping the reality of the outdoors by catching a movie at Hoyts in Wairau, with the cinemas always being warm and clean and giving myself an excuse to consume large amounts of movie food, it always helps the rain down the drain!

I’m a Sunday drive kind of guy but that’s out the window for me if the weather is wet and raining, usually in this situation i get myself to Action Raceway and get straight into the Go Karts. Fast pace, loud and exciting this place usually leaves me hoping for rain again next Sunday!

Nothing beats winding down a rainy afternoon by catching a flick at Berkeley Cinema in Takapuna, walking up the stairs to the foyer and smelling that fresh popcorn the closer you get really makes me forget about the weather and enjoy the atmosphere in the cinema.

Planet Sports is a great way to keep fit, they have social and competitive leagues and it’s all run and managed by friendly and enthusiastic staff who love adding to the banter. They provide football, netball and cricket leagues so there is a choice for almost anyone who’s keen to break a sweat!

While you may not leave Lilliputt wiping the sweat from your forehead the amount of laughs and competitiveness you get out of the this place do leave the endorphin’s flowing and its a great family environment as well.

For me there is no better way to shape up for the snow season by escaping to Snowplanet, carving up the slope there and hitting the jumps. Snowboarding not only gives me a great core work out but above all is one of the funnest things I have ever tried, a must try!

Imagine hanging on for your life on the edge of a gusty mountain face! While Extreme Edge is not quite as perilous i can guarantee it’s just as fun, they have climbs for all age groups and for me it is an awesome way to test my strength and push my limits all with the peace of mind of a harness strapped around my waist.

For me you can’t spell fitness with out YMCA, with so many options on how to keep fit in one place if you’ve been scratching your head on where to look i suggest you start here, whether its just a gym your after or a friendly indoor sports league the YMCA caters to all!

The dishes at Prego are absolutely delicious, top that off with friendly staff and the experience for me is always an enjoyable one. I have never tasted better Pasta dishes and the Calamari rings are to die for!

Gengis Khan is always buzzing! If you like the idea of having your food prepared in front of you and smelling the delicious Mongolian ingredients that you’ve hand picked yourself cook before your eyes then you, like me, will love this place!

The food at Daikoku tastes great and the whole experience really is a must try, with a personal chef that cooks the food in front of you and even does trick shots with the food into your mouth! For a fun time and above all else amazing asian cuisine get to Daikoku!

Whenever I go to Lone Star the only thing going through my mind is ribs, i cannot get past the ribs they do. If ribs aren’t your thing they whip up some mouth watering steaks and the atmopshere is really laid back. My only regret with Lone Star is that I don’t go there enough!

Delicious pizzas, succulent steaks and a great vibe, Portofino for me is the real Northern Italian experience and only about a stones throw away from the local bars in Takapuna! Whether your kicking the night off or looking to wind down Portofino will provide.

After a long day spent at Takapuna beach my mind soon turns to food, a short walk up the road and Pita Pit Takapuna provides me with a filling and nutritious option that always leaves me feeling great!

Whenever we go to Kiwi Sandwich there is never any fear of leaving dissapointed. The tasty and nutritious ingredients used really make you feel like you’ve enjoyed just that.. a true Kiwi Sandwich!

I love the atmosphere at Fatima’s in Takapuna it’s always buzzing and the food is affordable on top of being healthy and above all it tastes amazing!!
