The view from the top of Mount Maunganui Summit Track is stunning - definitely worth the hike up.

From the top you get spectacular views of the beach, the inner harbour and port, Matakana Island and ships coming and going through the small harbour entrance.

It takes approximately 40 minutes to get to the top, depending on what route is taken. There are several tracks, but the two tracks recommended for sightseers are the Oruahine and Waikorire.

The iconic Mount Maunagnui Walk is famous for a reason. You can either walk up it or around it, either way you will not be disappointed. The hike up has beautiful views across the whole of The Mount. The track is full of other walkers and a few crazy runners. The initial steps at the start of the walk is probably the hardest part but once these are out of the way its a steady climb on a well maintained pathway. Make sure you bring a camera and can get quite slippery if it has been raining so bring secure walking shoes. Look out for rabbits and sheep as you are walking up :)

The path to the top of Mt Maunganui is well trodden... and with good reason, the view from the top is outstanding! If you're a visitor to the area, do yourself a favour and take the thoroughly enjoyable 30-40 min walk to the top and take in the spectacular view down the coast.

The hike to the summit is challenging so with children, it's best to take veer off this track and head around the Mount. It's wide enough to take a pram and kids love it when they get around to the rock pools because they can search for crabs and creatures. It provides endless hours of free fun, especially if you take a picnic and stay for part of the day.

The view is stunning and worth the effort to go up :) Best training tool out

The summit track takes you to the top so you can enjoy a 360 degree view. There are a couple of decisions to make on the way up and depending on your fitness levels. Once you get to the top it is compulsary to take a pic and post it to all social media that you have.

3.8km of steep hill and steps, but the view at the top is more than worth it. A work-out and a cool pic for your instagram lol.
