Ombra, meaning a small glass of local wine, is a welcome new Italian bacari (backstreet bar) serving simple rustic Venetian fare, local wines and craft beers, where locals meet to celebrate the joy of food and wine.
Located where there was once Peaches and Cream, Ombra has restored the building to its former glory, paying loving tribute to the 1920s, when the building was first built.

This is my first time dabbling in Venetian cuisine and sweet mother of neptune it won't be my last. From the eggplant crustino's to the mozarella and pistachio pizzetes and kumara gnocchi everything is a scumptious and unique taste explosion. The service is excellent, the place looks awesome and they have Garage Project on tap. Need I say more?
Ombra is always super busy, which is nothing if not an indication of how good the food is. Venetian style tapas, a highly curated selection of imported liqueurs and wines, and Garage Project beer (Yum!). The noisy, bustling atmosphere is not for the faint hearted, but the Kumara gnocchi makes it worth it. The rich feeling, wood and linen decorated interior gives Ombra an authentic feel, and the food compliments this perfectly.
The only thing better than the food at Ombra is how good it looks to be seen going there. It’s the cheap side of classy and the classy side of cheap. And the sharing of the food allows many opportunities for eyes to meet during conversations of cultured things like Kieslovski’s DEKALOG or which one out of FRIENDS you are.
