This is the only place I buy my CD's from! The selection is amazing and is so much fun to trawl through. I also love that I can trade in old CDs to put towards purchasing new ones. The gifts section is awesome, perfect for finding that quirky gift for the friend that has everything and the selection of books is always interesting.
My friend took me to Real groovy for the first time ever about 6 weeks ago! What a place, it is full of books cds games and so much more! Inside real groovy there is even a small retro/vintage clothing area which has a huge amount of clothing and cow boy boots. Real groovy also has a sale rack for those that are on a tight budget!
This place hands down, is an Auckland icon. They have a massive selection of new and used vinyl records, as well as cds, books, movies, clothes. I could easily spend hours in here. Some of their items (aka cds) are overpriced compared to other music stores but it does help knowing you are supporting something that is New Zealand owed.

A groovy piece of Auckland.
When I used to live out of town Real Groovy was always one of my first stops. There was something pretty special about leaving that awesome store with one of those little (or big) orange bags knowing you've got some life changing music in your hands. The dvd section is definietly worth a peruse, as are the books. It's also got a great online store. So come on peeps, support NZ. NOt many independant music stores left.
Admittedly I’m hijacking this Real Groovy rave to talk about the Atomic coffee stand in there. Because it’s the best! Definitely my top place for good coffee in the city, the barista knows what he is doing – you can tell by the way he is surrounded in disciples at any given time. This is also a great chance to pick up your supply of Atomic Veloce coffee beans. You do buy coffee beans right?
