I went here for a family dinner recently, we all had samosa's to start, which come out with a variety of delicious sauces on them and are SUPER tasty. Then we all had curries that we thought were beautifully seasoned. Needless to say, we devoured them all very quickly!  This place is family owned and I love the friendliness of the people who serve you! I'm definitely going back here again next time I've got the craving for sweet sweet Indian curry.

Superb :)

As well as serving delicious authentic versions of your favourite well-known curries, Satya also do a really tasty selection of the lesser-known South Indian delicacies! Dahi Puri, my fave, is so yummy. It’s a hard, crispy shell with potato and chickpea inside, topped with yo, tamarind paste, chutney, fresh coriander and ground spices. Dosa is another one of my top picks. It’s a thin pancake with crispy edges, with curry inside, rolled up and served in slices. The exposed brick walls make for a very trendy look and the staff are so friendly! Lots of options for vegetarians; you will be spoilt for choice! Prices are pretty reasonable too. Defs my favourite Indian restaurant in Auckland!

This is the menu for the amazing Satya South Indian restaurant that we keep in a drawer at home. The reason it looks so tired? Because it is thumbed, salivated over and ordered from on an insanely regular basis! We eat in and take out, and have been working our way through the lengthy lineup of dishes for quite some time now. And we are yet to be disappointed. An unmissable spot.

I went with a friend last Friday we loved our summer experience, a great cheap, cheerful & tasty restaurant. It is simply yet appropriately, decorated, giving excellent service & delicious meals. We had Dahi Puri as entrees...to die for, not to be missed. For main I had Appolo Fish & my friend had Kadai Chicken, both delicious. We had someone coming round on several occaisions checking that we were happy with our meals & drinks. I will certainly be back. We dined at 6.00 pm as we were going elsewhere, by the time we left it was full house!!

Must try :)

Satya serves up incredible South Indian cuisine from several locations, but my favourite is the Grey Lynn branch (others are K’ Rd, Mt Eden and Sandringham). Their meals are less fatty and more highly spiced than many standard Indian restaurants, and they offer pretty much everything on the menu as a takeaway option too.

Super :)

This is IT!  I have been here to dine alone, with a group, I often get takeaways  .... and the food has always been CONSISTENTLY OUTSTANDING. It may look a bit bohemian from the outside, and the heating hasn't always been working well, but this is still a comfortable dining experience, that does not break the bank and caters extensively to vegetarians with the fare offered.  My FAVOURITE is Palakura Cottage Cheese Curry (the traditional spinach cottage cheese curry), but here it gets a tomato/spinach curry that only adds to the dish.    Also, check out there 'be a benevolant guest" deal; a chance to give to others.

THE BEST south Indian food in Auckland, and I'm not really a fan of indian food. It's the only indian I will go to, and it is amazing every time. A huge menu to choose from (so many dishes that it makes decisions really hard), but it caters to all dietary desires. My favourite is the spinach and cottage cheese curry. Funny because i took my Dad there (with the family) on my birthday and chose the spinach/cottage cheese curry (among other dishes) and we told him the cottage cheese was chicken (because he's a 'man's man' and not into 'that alternative vegetarian food'). When asked what he thought was his favourite dish of the lot, he chose the spinach/cottage cheese curry and commented on how tender the 'chicken' was! hehe Make sure you choose the Dahi Puri entree -MUST HAVE! Most regulars come here just for that -it is AMAZING. Plus there are many other interesting and interactive entrees available eg: the Pani Puri which is a shell which you have to break with a fork and fill with a tantalizing mixture they give you. Fun for introducing people to (south) indian food like no other in Auckland. Make sure you book because it call fill up on weekend nights! And make sure you give your friends clear instructions as to which Satya you are going  to, as there are 4 locations and on two different occasions I have said 'the Krd one' to friends and they went to the Krd branch, when I was meaning the Great North Road one (they are same stretch of street but one road changes into another).
