This place is great! Went here before I had my kids but I would love to take them there now. So many things to see and do...

I’m not normally a fan of museums but Te Papa wins me over every time. There’s something for everyone to find there.

The hands on Discovery Centres, and STORYPLACE for under 5’s

Many Wellingtonians only make the time to visit our national museum when relatives are in town, but this is a shame when it has so much more to offer than the "giant" squid and the earthquake house. It regularly refreshes its exhibitions and holds frequent talks and seminars, many of which are free to the public. You’ll be surprised at how time flies when you’re expanding your mind.

There’s always something to be done in this massive warehouse of knowing on our water front. There’s always some big prevarication to make to numb the teen angst boiling within you. Man, I was a weird kid.

It may seem a bit touristy but once you get over your own sense of uncool, there is a bunch of stuff to do there. Yeah, while it may not actually be nearly as educational as it aspires to be (and the removal of the library was a pretty dumb move by all accounts), that’s not what you want to do anyway. You want to go on all the silly little games and get really good at them. It’s much more fun than you’d think and because most of them are still free you can, I’ve found get a good hour of free (if somewhat ironic) entertainment out of a dawdle through the Paps.

Te Papa is one of Wellington’s most iconic landmarks, and the Museum of New Zealand. The museum sports several floors with areas ranging from game zones and cafes to historical exhibitions and beautiful art and sculptures. Te Papa is a great place to escape the rain or just get lost in for the day.

I’ll never get sick of going to Te Papa. I aways take out of towners - make them stand in the earthquake house and then show them the colossal squid. They love it! It’s also the perfect rainy day hide out and entry’s free! They also have great exhibitions and events where you’re bound to learn something!

You can get lost in here for hours, even days. I always find something new every time I go.
