After reading a list of recommended Thai places in the Central region, I decided to try Thai house. Not being big spice eaters, I called up wanting some help to navigate the online menu. The staff member who took my call was amazingly helpful, we placed our order, and upon getting the food home we were all converted - me to my new favourite Thai restaurant, and my children to their new favourite food. The servings were incredibly generous and absolutely delicious. The order was ready quickly despite the restaurant being quite full on pickup. I am totally hooked!
I have been going to Thai House for so many years now and it is great every time. The flavours are incredible and the serving sizes are massive. I would thoroughly recommend trying the Green thai chicken curry if you go their with some springs rolls for an entree. It is a bit more on the expensive side compared to many of the other Thai restaurants along Ponsonby but it is definitely worth it. Unfortunately the service has often fallen short at Thai House, they are always super friendly just not very attentive and the food can often take a while arriving. Yet, don't let that stop you going here. It really is amazing!
Popped in for dinner the other night and If i was to return on service alone I wouldn't be back. The food however was wonderful. It was just a shame that the meals came out 10minutes apart so we couldn't all eat together (there were only 4 meals) and we had to keep waving at them to get their attention for more rice. I would be tempted to try again, fingers crossed the service will have improved!
AMAZING - the flavours at Thai House are stand-out every time - you can't go wrong with any of their Red Curries in particular. The staff are really friendly and if you go regularly, they soon learn your name and sometimes your regular order! If you're going for a special occasion, definitely book ahead as it's not the largest restaurant in the world. Mmmm, now I'm hungry.
These guys are constently good both for eat-in and take-out, and they have some great dishes. If you're vegetarian I recommend the black bean taro cakes as an interesting entree you won't find elsewhere, and the vegetable peanut satay as a main - that's a huge dish with heaps of flavour. They seem like lovely folks, great service and a nice atmosphere if you're eating in. Can get a bit noisy when it's really busy.
