When I arrived to NZ 13 years ago, I was reluctant to try the famous Kiwi pies…wasn’t sure what I would find inside…I finally did one day when I found myself hungry in Island Bay…. I tried them at Blue Belle Cafe and loved them since then! Fresh, meaty, juicy… perfect size. Flavours are different and so unique! My favourite? Pepper Steak with Ale. Price is perfect too!!! Now it has become a MUST stop every time I got family and friends coming to visit.

I love everything that is on the Menu here…but we are talking about Pies and so the classic shepherds pie or the fish pie are divine!!!

Bellagio is a hidden gem in the Heart of Hatitai Suburb…I used to live there and so it was my hang out place for a while…When Bellagio has pies on the menu it is a delicacy! No dodgy stuff…all good and organic and sometimes even Gluten Free. So if you happen to spot Pies on their counter food, don’t think it twice…It is a real treat!

Just like its name… my mouth goes crazy every time I come here :) the ceviche, the handmade tortillas, the real soft tortilla tacos and Margaritas…QUE RICO!!!

Mexico has arrived to wellington with an amazing Street art style Mural that depicts Mexican culture and life. Authentic flavours are mixed in salsas, concoctions and experimental dishes. You won't get your usual Burritos or Tex Mex, instead you will be surprised with every bite. Spicy, funky and fresh. The Plum Margaritas with chilly-salt rim are just perfect. The Kids menu with Frida Kahlo mask is the chilli on top. Buenisimo! #shoutme

You are not cool if you haven’t been with the Bro’s! Its the trendiest Mexican place to be in Wellington. At the heart of Cuba st and with 12 years of history, well The Flying Burrito Brothers was the first real fresh Mexican in town… and it holds its reputation to its day of THE BEST MARGARITAS in town! I personally love the decor : full of colour, leather chairs form Mexico, the tin star shaped lamps, the 50’s Mexican movie posters… The 120 tequilas (or something like that) and their Holy Mole enchiladas are as close as my grandmother used to make them.

I can tell you something as a Mexican that I am: Mad Mex serves the most authentic  Carnitas Tacos in Wellington. They even come with double tortillas like in Mexican Taquerias. The salsas are fresh and no cumin or vinegar added... They have an habanero salsa which is surreal! The decor is funky and fun...The Corona Chandelier is cool as!

I’m very health conscious and commercial sugary soda is not my kind of drink… but six barrel soda is just the perfect afternoon refreshment if you are looking for unique flavour, natural ingredients, cool vibes and local superb service. Love Love Love!

Fidels can find its way in many lists… like the best milkshake no kidding! or best theme cafe, a piece of history, a cuban love affair, etc…but I always find myself at Fidels around 3pm…looking for a mid afternoon snack, refreshment, time off half through the day. What do I get? NACHOS and a thick VANILLA, soy MILKSHAKE!

You missed your morning coffee? or maybe you need a third cuppa… Flight is where you go for great beans, aroma, service, and casual hang out.

If you have been to Argentina or Spain then El Matador will take you back there. Honestly, I think they have best Tapas and Asado in Wellington. Think Chimichurri, Sangria, Provolone, Patatas bravas and Churros: yum!

Fresh, contemporary, delicious food and wine. The perfect place to go for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner. You will be satisfied every time.

The coolest urban cafe you can find in Wellington. They make their own bread and patisserie, they roast their own coffee, they make the best pizza and they have the coolest airplane propeller-ventilator on the ceiling!
