    1
    Uptown Pool and Karaoke Bar

Ok, not the flashest looking place but the atmosphere is second to none. Get it on the right night and it’s almost like a concert the locals get into that much. If you’ve always wanted to be a rock star this is your chance lol.

    Cape Kidnappers Golf Course
    Te Awanga
Considered New Zealand's number one course and rated 16th in the world, Cape Kidnappers is the ultimate treat for any golfer. Play on an incredible course which hugs the dramatic cliffs of Cape Kidnappers, the views are amazing. Yes, it's expensive but the experience and being able to say you've played it (even if just once) is well worth it.

LOVE this place. Get the Beef Salad almost everytime and it never disappoints always super fresh and the beef just melts.
  2. 2
    3
    Collar & Thai
    Tauranga
Really stylish place and well known by locals. Food doesn't disappoint either, the Phad Thai is a winner.
  3. 3
    1
    The Thai Restaurant
    Rotorua Central
Traditional styled Thai Restaurant. The food definitely justifies the expensive prices and is always fresh, expect an authentic Thai experience. There's also a private party room available.
  4. 4
    1
    Thai Chef's Restaurant Napier
    Onekawa
They say the more authentic the Thai food is the more healthier it is also because it’s western world who adds all the naughty stuff. Well you can’t get any more authentic than this place who even had the ambassador for Thailand give an unsolicited stamp of approval for the authenticity of their food and they received the prestigious ‘Thai Select Award’ from the Royal Thai Government. Pretty impressive, as is the food.

    Master House Chinese Restaurant
    Hamilton Central
We always go somewhere for a pre-show meal and it just happened to be next door to our hotel so we ate here. You know the food's good when the boys over eat, head back to their rooms for naps and we were late to the gig lol.
  2. 2
    1
    KungFu Kitchen
    Napier Central
Done a bit differently from the traditional yum cha restaurants I've been to but really good nonetheless. I could order a table full of their steamed pork buns.
  3. 3
    4
    88 Devonport Chinese Restaurant
    Tauranga
Most people would take one look at the place and walk out but trust me, when your Siumai is that good - I have no problem with the plastic tablecloths.
  4. 4
    3
    Regal Chinese Restaurant
    Rotorua Central
As far as I know it’s the only yum cha restaurant in Rotorua although it’s only available if you’re dining with a group. Amazing duck here.

    Wilson's Barber Shop
    Rotorua Central
Good old fashioned real barbering. On Thursday & Fridays you can even get an old fashioned wet shave with a cut throat, hot towel and all. Now that's cool.
  2. 2
    1
    Grafts Barbershop
    Hamilton Central
Grafts become a good friend of mine and is always the first stop when I have a show in Hamilton, best fades in the area hands down.
  3. 3

    Legends Barber Shoppe
    Mount Maunganui
This place is too cool. Retro decor, coffee, donuts and pinball while you wait. They even do Spiders during the summer! Oh, they can cut hair too lol
  4. 4
    1
    The Barber Shop
    Waipukurau
You wouldn’t expect to find a decent Barber’s in a town as small as Waipukurau but they can actually cut. It’s always a good sign when the line is out the door and onto the street.

Best Japanese

    Takara Japanese Restaurant
    Tauranga
You can't miss it, on the corner of the popular 'Strand' which runs along Tauranga's waterfront. This place is ALWAYS busy so I'd suggest you book ahead. Super good and probably one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants I've been to.
  2. 2
    3
    Nami
    Hamilton Central
Super small place but with that you know you are going to well looked after. Best deal (if you’re not feeling lazy lol) is the Shabu-Shabu, where you cook your food at your table. Probably best suited as a lunch spot.
  3. 3
    1
    Yoko'Sushi Express
    Gisborne Central
It’s actually the only Japanese restaurant in Gisborne but it hasn’t just made the list purely by default, their food amazing. Their catering sevice is pretty popular too so if you’ve had Japanese at an event or party around Gisborne, chances are it came from here.
  4. 4
    1
    Kisso Sushi Cafe
    Cambridge
Japanese is known for being the healthiest option when it comes to asian food. This place is the best sushi in the Waikato hands down. I’d recommend the fresh salmon sushi, I couldn’t get over how big the pieces of salmon were. I’ve been here a couple of times and the salmon is always perfect.
