The bar on everyone’s lips in Hokitika is Stumpers Bar and Cafe. Not only a full service hotel but a place to get rowdy, play pool and catch up with friends. The garlic prawns here are excellent, especially washed down with a whisky sour.

This Franz bar is always a good place to warm up after a day in the ice. The pasta, burgers and lamb shanks are always my favourite dishes and I like to further warm up with a glass of hot mulled wine.

A great comfy bar with delicious beers and hearty roasts. Chill out on the couches or at the bar and enjoy the great West Coast chat.

A favourite place of mine to catch up with friends and family, the SAH in Greymouth is an awesome bar. I love its heritage building on Mawhera Quay, as well as their menu featuring everything from calamari and eggs benedict to seafood chowder and steak sandwiches.

This place is a real delight. Located next to the river, there’s a lot I love about Berlins Cafe & Bar Restaurant (and jetski tours!). Expect classic Kiwi fare coupled with a small but perfectly formed selection of beverages.

The Kiln is a great bar. This Invercargill establishment has it all from a great range of local beers and wines to excellent pub fare. My favourite dishes are seafood board and roast dinners.

This family friendly bar and restaurant has the best view of any bar in Southland. The beer selection is small but perfectly formed and the dinners here are massive and very hearty. Try the steak with garlic prawns, it’s my favourite ….

I love this Gore establishment. The Heineken Bar is warm and sophisticated with cosy seating and a nice fireplace. The food is very warming on a cold day and they have a great wine list to wash down your meal with.

Who doesn’t love a good Irish Pub? Waxy’s is a favourite of mine because of their awesome live music and Irish-themed decor. The Guiness of course is always on point and you can’t beat their bowls of hot chips too!

This delightful wee bar, cafe and restaurant in Te Anau is hard to beat. So cute and quaint in a little cottage, it’s always great when there is live music on and the lunch and dinner meals are so delicious. Try the local venison or salmon for a taste of Southland.

This place is my number one bar in Otago because of their epic cocktails. Simple! The staff are always up for a good chat and the atmosphere is always great because the place is always going off. It’s a wicked bar!

This sophisticated cocktail bar is a favourite of mine for their tasty cocktails, low seating and the place isn’t ever packed so you get to chat to your friends whilst listening to the live music. It’s a very very nice place to spend a Saturday night.

An English pub in the heart of Queenstown and during the depths of winter is hard to beat. Pints of ale, hot chips, a fireplace and an epic view make Pig and Whistle one of my favourite bars in all of Otago.

Queenstown’s best kept secret, The Bunker is a very hard place to find. This cocktail bar and private dining lounge is a super cool place to kick your feet up and unwind with a couple of bevvies. The cocktail list is impressive (particularly their list of martinis!).

It might not be the classiest of names but Fat Sally’s will impress when you get inside and head to a table. The staff here are so very friendly and I love quiz night and when the band is on. Always a great night out!

This place goes off on a Friday and Saturday night. Great for their delicious bar food, excellent beer and cocktail selection and live music. The dance floor is a great place to head as the tunes are epic!

A firm favourite for craft beer lovers, I love The Institution for their ever-changing taps, tasty pies and chatty bar staff. There’s room upstairs at the bar or downstairs in the more living room kind of setting. A joy to be in.

Shop Eight has now become a wine bar, and a really good one. Wine from around the country fills in the wine list and the locally sourced meats and veggies come cured and picked for a build your own platter. It’s so good!

A rad wee bar with delicious food and beautiful drinks. The all day menu is a favourite of mine because it includes roasted kumara and pumpkin sandwiches, eggs benedict and baked cheesecake - oh my! There’s live music and quiz nights there too!

Bootleg is a great place to spend a Friday night. After a long day at work, I find there is no better way to unwind than with freerange chicken wings and nice cold, locally brewed, beer.

A stylish department housed within the famous Ballantynes Department Store, I love their trendy Kiwi labels like Karen Walker and Kate Sylvester. There’s always great parties to attend at The Contemporary Lounge too!

I love Infinite Definite for their local and international labels, and awesome wee container store in Re:START. The owners are super lovely and very knowledgeable when it comes to clothes and trends.

A local Merivale favourite, Rouche is great for their highly fashionable clothes, accessories and shoes. Located in Merivale Mall, this place is popular for its labels like Twenty Seven Names and Karen Walker.

A high end avant garde clothing store in Merivale, at Victoria Black it’s all about Belgian labels and black clothes. Located in an old villa, this is a shop you can spend all day in!

A low key affair in The Tannery, Chalkydigits is all about organic and locally crafted clothes. Great for the outdoors or spending time in the garden, Chalkydigits clothes are warm, comfortable and practicle.

My absolute favourite, 47 Frocks is one of the best things about Wanaka… the trendy NZ labels keeps me coming back from more. And their accessories and pretty unbeatable too!

I love the quality of Bendon lingerie and I love their regular sales too. Stock up on your smalls at this Queenstown store and get some of the best service in the industry. These ladies really know their bras!
