- 22EarthwareRivertonEarthware is a fab store in Riverton. Expect all the best items from the 19th Century, including furniture and homewares. I love their ceramics and general bric-a-brac!
- 32A Touch of BluffBluffThis secondhand store is awesome! Whenever I’m in Bluff I always have to swing by and pick up the most unusual items for my home. Their collection of stoneware is impressive too!

- 14Purple RainDunedin CentralThis place is an amazing eccentric place. A vintage clothing store and cafe, also expect some amazing retro gears - I once picked up some awesome vintage ceramics and mid-century furniture
- 21Spit 'n PolishOamaruThis second hand store is pretty neat. Not only do they sell awesome antiques and collectables but they restore furniture too! I found some great pottery there once and I bet you will too!
- 32Odds and EndsDunedin CentralA cool wee store on Dunedin’s Princes Street. I love the chaotic space featuring everything from secondhand crockery to vintage ceramics and china. It’s a must visit!
- 41Trash ConvertersPalmerstonA really cool collectables store in the middle of nowhere, I love Trash Converters for their amazing collectables (i.e. Star Wars and Star Trek figurines!) and their awesome homewares. A must if you’re heading to Dunedin.
- 51The OddityWaikouaitiThis interesting second hand store is full of surprises. I love the retro and vintage collections including vintage clothing and records. You’ll find it on State Highway 1 so make sure you look out for it so you don’t miss it!

- 12Moeraki BouldersMoerakiThe Moeraki Boulders is a place I love to stop whenever I’m heading south. The stones are huge at 3-4 metres round and the area is great for walking and exploring the wild coast. A fun winter activity if you’re on a date or taking the whole family.
- 25Otago PeninsulaDunedin CentralLooking for something fun and free to do this Valentine's Day? Otago Peninsula is a wonderful place to visit. Check out the wildlife, take a stroll or a bike ride or take a picnic. Otago Peninsula was voted one of the most romantic regions in the world by CNN
- 32Baldwin StreetDunedin CentralThe steepest street in the world is in Dunedin. Test out your fitness and walk up it this winter - I dare you! You’ll definitely get that heart rate up. Watch out for the awesome Cadbury jafa events where the roll the delicious round lollies down the hill!
- 46Nugget PointCatlinsFor beautiful scenery that will take your breath away, head to Nuggest Point during these cold months. You’ll be astounded by the coastline and bird life, as well as fur seals (if you’re lucky to see them!).
- 52Arrowtown's Chinese SettlementArrowtownA must visit for any local or tourist, Arrowtown’s Chinese Settlement is the best way to discover how the Chinese settled in the area during the 1800s. The Chinese Settlement huts are fascinating and there are some awesome walking trails in the area too.

- 14Heaphy TrackKarameaI love this great NZ walk- take one day or three - four to explore this area of the Karamea. If you’re going on the full tramp, make sure you visit the DOC website for information on tracks and huts.
- 24Hokitika Glow Worm DellHokitikaThis magical wee dell is a Hokitika highlight. A short walk down in to the bush and you’ll discover the wonders of glow worms. A great mid winter activity!
- 36Hokitika BeachHokitikaI love Hokitika and I love the Hokitika beach. Not only do they have a really cool view of the Southern Alps, but they have a ‘Hokitika’ sign made out of driftwood!
- 43Lake MathesonFox GlacierNot too far from Fox Glacier, Lake Matheson is a glorious display of Mother Nature. I like taking a stroll around the lake and marveling at the stunning wildlife and fauna.

- 12Slope PointCatlinsGet your exercise on at Slope Point this winter. The walk along this ruggered stretch of land is spectacular. It’s a quick 20 minute walk so don’t expect a long trek. I love this place for it’s views and after lambing season, watching the cute little lambs!
- 26Southland Museum & Art GalleryInvercargillIf you’re looking for a free thing to do this winter then you can’t beat SMAG. I love it for their live Tuatara enclosures - these creatures are incredible to look at!
- 33Gemstone BeachOrepukiExplore the beautiful gemstones at Gemstone Beach. I love this little beach for its constantly changing tides and sparkling gems. Great for walks and picnics (although they’re probably best for the summer).
- 44Bluff HillBluffMan, there’s a lot I love about Bluff Hill. You can’t really visit Bluff Hill without a stop at Stirling Point, the famous sign post. There’s a great walking track and parks to enjoy too, if you want to brave the cold this winter.
- 52Greenpoint DomainBluffThis beautiful natural reserve in Bluff is an absolute favourite of mine. I love taking a walk down the shoreline track near the Reserve. Expect beautiful panoramic views of the Harbour if you choose to do the same!

- 12Air Force MuseumHornbyThis world class establishment is a great free thing-to-do in Christchurch town. I love it for their fantastic visual displays of NZ aviation history, including some wicked planes from WWII.
- 22Ohau Point Seal ColonyKaikouraDiscover one of the largest breeding colonies for seals in NZ at the Ohau Point Seal Colony. Walk right up close and see these beautiful creatures or keep your distance and instead explore the amazing fauna and flora of the area.
- 32Lake TekapoLake TekapoLake Tekapo Scenic Reserve is one of my favourite places on earth! The highland lakes, tussock grasses and iconic church make Lake Tekapo a great place to hangout in the weekend or over Christmas.
- 42Arthur's Pass National ParkArthurs PassThis national park is great for taking short walks and exploring the area. Moas once roamed the land, so it’s a great place to let you imagination go wild! The Millennium Walk is my favourite because it’s a quick 10 minute walk
- 51Castle HillCastle HillThe weathered limestone formations at Castle Hill are some of the most impressive in the entire world. The open landscape is great for exploring or taking the dog for a walk, and is ultimately a great free winter activity.
