The service was wonderful, with a lovely girl who was more than obliging while we made up our mind about the flavors we wanted. We ended up buying two of everything, our favorites being the Snickers cookie, and the Oreo Marshmellow one! We opted for plain milk, just like when we were kids! It was quite a small little bar, so no real room to sit around and take in the atmosphere but we were just as happy to dunk our cookies in our milk, while walking the lit up streets of Auckland. But here is hoping, that this business takes off, and they can expand their shop!! Amazing design and interior, and props for taking something so simple and making it a phenomenon! Cookies were 15/10, my fav being the Snickers cookie!!

    Milse
    Auckland Central
My absolute favourite place for sweet treats, Milse juxtaposes its hole-in-the-wall size with mouthwatering and gorgeously presented desserts. From the macarons to miniature gautex selection, everything looks almost too good to touch, but several insta-worthy photos later you’re more than ready to dig in, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is lovely too; watching the chef’s at work through their viewing window feels like an extra treat.

    Mellow
    Auckland Central
Mellow dessert café offers the perfect place to meet with friends and share a plate -or three-. From their cabinet selection of that day’s fresh baking to shaved ice served with fruit and froyo, there’s something that appeals to everyone with a sweet tooth and a mindset to try new treats. If green tea crepes and taro-shaved ice isn’t your cup of tea, the coffee and tea menu is really good too- their iced white chocolates are my new favourite things.

    Bluebells Cakery
    Hillsborough
Bluebells is a charming little place full of baking made with lots of love. Though tiny, their café has no shortage of sweets, and it always takes me forever to decide between their equally appealing cupcakes or slices or cakes, (and then between lemon, or red velvet, or salted caramel.) While heaps of cafes offer the same flavours, none have mastered the cozy appeal of Bluebells, everything reminds you a bit of home, of sugar, spice, and everything nice.

It’s a good thing they offer loyalty cards because this place is seriously addictive. On top of the usual and not-so-usual ice cream flavours, like pineapple lump and jaffa, their milkshakes and “real” hot chocolates are amazing (peanut butter and oreo, anyone?). While you’re waiting for the careful construction of your order, the array of American candies that line the walls are very hard to resist browsing.

    Bluebells Cakery
    Eden Terrace
I loved their Hillsborough outlet, and somehow love this one even more. A much more spacious shop, there's plenty of room to sit- a good thing for them and not so good thing for me, because I ended up ordering another cupcake after the first! The banana and salted caramel one was delicious, with the perfect ratio of icing to cupcake, topped off prettily with banana chips and flowers, and the lemon curd cupcake was just as good, a little tangy and sticky, just the way lemon cake should be.

    Bluebells Cakery
    Hillsborough
By far the prettiest bakery in Auckland, Bluebells Cakery is a charming vintage-inspired spot and full of so many delicious cakes and treats you will hard-pressed to decide on which sweet thing to order. High on my list of favourite cake flavours are the banana and salted caramel, which is as amazing as it sounds and the fabulous lemon curd which has just the right amount of sweetness and bite. If classic flavours are more your thing make sure you try the vanilla bean, it's definitely the most perfect vanilla cake in Auckland. Bluebells cakes are addictively good and from your first visit you'll find any excuse to re-visit this suburban treat haven.

    The Caker
    Auckland Central
I had heard of the amazing baker Jordan Rondel, known as The Caker, long before I tasted her delicious cakes. Such is the way good food news travels in this city. Her beautiful cakes are instantly recognisable by their pretty decorations which include fresh flowers, berries and pistachio pieces. The fact that these cakes taste even more amazing than they look is quite something and make them a treat for the eyes and the palate. I can never go past her flourless dark chocolate cake which is sinfully good and as moist and rich as you would want your chocolate cake to be. Definitely my favourite chocolate cake in Auckland.

    Delish Cupcakes
    Forrest Hill
Known for their creative recipes and super fresh baking, Delish Cupcakes, are a true cake gem and have built up a loyal following over the past few years. Every single cupcake is baked fresh in store each day and carefully decorated by Delish's clever team, the flavours are all kinds of awesome with everything from classic chocolate with chocolate ganache to Perky Nana and Pinky Bar inspired cupcakes sure to please the kids or your inner child. I find it impossible to order just one with vanilla passionfruit and jersey caramel high on my list of favourites. If you're keen to unleash your inner baker they also offer cupcake making classes for adults and children which are a lot of fun and you leave with tasty treats to take home if they make it that long! They also make custom cakes and cupcakes to order which are definitely worth doing. If you can't make it to the shore you can order from them online too - no excuses not to try some, you'll be glad you did!

Making some of the cutest cupcakes and cakes in Auckland, Icing On The Cake, has perfected their American style cupcakes complete with frosting and sprinkles. Must try flavours are the delicious strawberry, jaffa and my favourite, raspberry lamington with vanilla bean frosting which is a true delight. Icing On The Cake also make full-size cakes to order in their great range of flavours. Make sure you try the fresh frozen yoghurt too, it's a perfect summer treat.

Hidden away on a backstreet in Newmarket is Heart of Flavour, the artisanal bakery that produces some of the tastiest cakes in Auckland. The focus here is on flavour and high quality ingredients with simple but chic decorations, You must try the banana and almond cake with passionfruit curd filling, it's absolutely divine and the perfectly light without being too sweet. Their chocolate buttermilk cake is also incredibly delicious and high on my list of favourite cakes too.

    Miann
    Auckland Central
I've had a date with Miann in my diary for a few weeks now as it's hailed as one of Auckland's best dessert bar meccas. It's the hard work and a dream come true for passionate creator and head chef Brian Campbell and his wife Roselle and features a sumptuous array of desserts. It was so good, I went twice in a matter of days. The first time we stopped in to pick up donuts to munch on the way back to the car after a movie. But the second time was the full-on, sit down Miann experience and what an experience it was. I never knew anything could be better than cheesecake. But cheesecake inside a sugary strawberry balloon. Amazing!

Candy lovers look no further! If you want to feel like you've died and gone to a heavenly world dripped in sugar and full of colours, flavours and tantalising tastes, you need to pop your head in and say hi to the confectionary experts at this iconic Mt Eden local. There are so many different types of hard-to-find candies at this great Auckland sweet shop that an experience of visiting feels delightfully decadent and a little overwhelming. I love the fact that the guy behind the counter has worked here for six years and still hasn't tried every sweet in store.

    Milse
    Auckland Central
Every amazing thing you've heard about Milse is entirely true. Since its arrival in Britomart it has become a sweet tooth mecca and for many delicious reasons. Let's start with the patisseries which are utterly mouthwatering and comprise so many different kinds of pastries, tarts and creative delicacies you will have great difficulty choosing just one, although do try the roasted pear, apple and frangipane tart - it's a true delight! Milse also has the best selection of fresh macarons in Auckland, incredible handmade chocolates and clever gelato blends on sticks amongst its many other treats. Everything at Milse is presented in a beautiful way and the service is also impeccable, it really is a five star dessert experience and even offers a dessert degustation menu which is out of this world. If you haven't tried it yet, find any excuse to go as it's an absolute must.

A good mate of mine told me I hadn’t lived until I’d taking a trip to the Chocolate Boutique Cafe (once visited by then-US President Bill Clinton) and tried their chilli Italian denso, a thick hot chocolate that literally got my mouth watering before I’d even had a chance to taste it. The experience is like travelling to chocolate heaven but with a real zing. My companion tried the Mexican spice version and considered it to be just as delicious. This will be one of my go-to places come winter.

    Al's Deli
    Auckland Central
The doughnuts at Al’s Deli make me smile, not only because they taste delectably selfish but more importantly it’s about the fact that they are served up with personality plus. When we visited there was one creation you could inject with lemon meringue but I was swayed by the Bob Marley lyrics ("I Wanna Jam It With You") of their traditional jam and cream option. And don’t miss a date with the ribs or burgers here. $10 burger lunches on a Monday are a winner.

Alleluya is the heart of St Kevin's Arcade and quite rightly so. The kitchen is at the back but all of the seating is in the atrium which overlooks the mouth of the arcade so you are guaranteed some great people watching. Coffee is Millers and there is a blackboard menu all week and counter food, mostly under $8, on weekdays. The cake counter is a thing of beauty which has flavors such as Jewish Ginger, Orange Almond(gluten free), Italian Rice Cake and the Alleluya Chocolate cake which is a rich, moist morsel. It's a brilliant spot to have a late afternoon wine and marvel at the character of St Kevin's Arcade and watch all the activity in the shops around you.

    Scratch Bakers HQ
    Auckland Central
Have you ever wondered where Toru and Teed Street Larder get their superb baking from? Scratch Bakers are the source and now you too can go straight to it. They have opened a small but perfectly formed cafe in the City Works Depot and you can sit down to mouth watering fish korma or braised goat, harissa and yoghurt pies and follow up with a ginger creme brulee tart or twisted cinnamon dusted churro among many other sweet and savoury delights. They serve malty Three Beans Espresso and the decor is raw industrial in keeping with the rest of CWD but warmed up by a red painted wall.

It doesn't take much to lure me into Little & Friday - the cream donuts are a real weakness as are the caramelised onion and feta tarts, savoury brioche and pot of tea alongside is a heavenly accompaniment . But one of the most divine things I have eaten there is a chocolate eclair and boy are these things are elusive! If anyone sees them in the cabinet please alert me a.s.a.p.

    The Caker
    Auckland Central
Jordan Rondel, aka The Caker, makes sublime cakes. She has such a large repertoire of unusual recipes that you can keep going back for more over and over. The ingredients she uses are organic and natural and there is a homemade quality to her cakes that is unique to her. Nothing is too much of a challenge for her - vegan, gluten free, cane sugar free - and her flavours are always intense. Her specialties include Flourless Dark Chocolate Cake, Coconut, Lime and Plum with Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Icing, Orange, Almond and Polenta Cake and Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake.

I am a huge fan of Kohu Road's Cookies and Cream and Dark Chocolate icecreams but now also have discovered the spacious cafe out in New Lynn. Supreme Coffee made with organic milk(of course) and a bagel with smoked salmon is my perfect breakfast. The pastries and donuts in the cabinet look delicious and the cafe has a kooky area with a retro caravan and seating area which is endearing.
