Best eggs benedict

I just celebrated my birthday with my favourite brunch - eggs benedict! I was able to exchange the rocket lettuce for spinach and the focaccia bread with a specialty hash brown, thanks Chef. Add to that the smoked salmon, two perfectly poached eggs and a drizzle of pesto and it was simply divine! I will be back for more in the very near future…

This delightful spot on the beach has it all - great coffee, divine ice cream, and a wonderful menu to dine from. My favourite meal? Eggs benedict with smoked salmon - it’s to die for! Except that wouldn’t be wise as you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it over and over again. VERY popular place in the weekends so get in early to ensure a table.

    Fernielea Cafe
    Coatesville
This gorgeous cottage houses a wonderful brunch secret - eggs benedict from Heaven. The food was delicious; the hollandaise sauce had a perfect lemony tang. Add to that a playground with sandpit for the kids and it is a win-win for all the family.

With consistently good service and a warm welcome each visit, Mozaik in the mall is the perfect place to unwind with a good meal. I love hash browns and their eggs benedict comes nicely settled on a tasty home-made hash brown: the perfect combination!

I have dined here a few times, each time ordering my favourite brunch - eggs benedict with salmon. The food is consistently good, the eggs cooked to perfection, and all at a price that does not leave you homeless. Excellent value for money!

    The Old Bailey
    Wellington Central
With a solid selection of tap beers, and a selection of pub fare to make your mouth water. The Old Bailey is a local favorite amongst inner city business people, and a popular spot for cricket watching. I highly reccomend the big breakfast!

    Thistle Inn
    Thorndon
The Thistle inn is a Thorndon institution, with classic decor including polished wooden floors, and a vintage feel. Steeped in history, the thistle inn is New Zealand's oldest surviving tavern. Kiwi favourites on tap, and staff that'll make you feel right at home.

It is jokingly said that The Backbencher is where real politics take place. This gastro pub boasts a slightly fancier menu, and an extensive wine list, and is home to some of Wellington's best chips. Fun fact: The Backbencher has it's own TV show on Prime.

Home to an array of delicious craft beer and cider, and a welcoming atmosphere. You won't find a pool table at Sprig and fern, but you will find a cozy beer patio and some of the best curly fries you've ever tried! This is favorite spot among locals, and this is reflected in the relaxed and friendly attitudes you will encounter.

The Cambridge hotel is always busy, which means it's doing something right! This is the perfect place to relax and watch the game with friends. With classic kiwi vibes, and a solid quiz night, The Cambridge Hotel gets a thumbs up from me!

This is one of the coolest pubs in Auckland for kids to enjoy. With a sandpit out back and incredible menu specials, I was pretty blown away when a local in the know took me here to wolf down my favourite meal - pizza washed down with a cold brew. There’s lots of great places and spaces to eat, drink and play and the staff don’t mind at all if the kids simply run free. Plus the decor is super-flash, but not quite as flash as the burgers they serve. They are heavenly so don’t miss ordering one and then helping to steal your mate’s fries too!

Set in a charming villa, Garnet Station owners Verity and Lisa make you feel welcome and at home, offering tasty food and beverage as well as books and toys for the young ones. A favourite for us once a month with their women-only open mic night on the first Sunday of each month.

    Cafe Windsor
    Mairangi Bay
My four-year-old twin nephews absolutely love this place! They play for hours, alternating between the small outdoor playground and the indoor play area - some days they have a bouncy castle inside the cafe! The food is divine and the coffee perfect every time.
